Strategies summary

-Uses name and speaks so other children can hear when providing praise and creates privacy when

she needs to guide behavior change

-Positive reinforcement by:

Names specific accomplishments within the total assignment  (rather than generalizing)

Suggests a possible future opportunity for sharing without promising (it is so good, it is worth

sharing, not letting time restraints limit the praise)

-Encourages intrinsic motivation and taking pride in his own work (You must be proud rather than I am

    proud)

Questions to consider

1.     What was the teacher trying to accomplish?

2.     What might the teacher do in follow-up?

3.     What alternative strategies do you propose?
